This is a fine example of a martially marked percussion Starr arms revolver in .44 Caliber with 6" barrel and 6 shot cylinder. The mechanism is double action which was quite advanced for an American product of the late 1850's. Interestingly enough, the Model 1863 actually regressed to a more simplified and economical single action design. Both models were purchased and used by the US military during the Civil War. This particular example is in Fine+ condition retaining 60% bright original blue overall with the balance turned to a light grey to light brown patina. Strong traces of original case colors remain on the hammer and loading lever. Fine grips are solid and untouched with 2 excellent military inspector cartouches located on each side of the butt. Excellent mechanics with a bright shiny bore with strong lands and grooves. Item# 9149 SOLD |
