This little New Line revolver is in beautiful shape. It's in caliber .30 rimfire which was only offered by Colt in the "New Line" series and they were built from 1874-76 according to Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Firearms. The cylinder has five chambers with long flutes and a 2-1/4" barrel. Finish is nickel with nice contrasting fire blued appointments and rosewood grips. The barrel features the early style etched panel which reads "COLT NEW 30". The right edge of the frame behind the recoil shield is also stamped "30 CAL". Serial number is in the high 8,000 range with all matching numbers including barrel, frame, cylinder, and inside the grips.
Overall condition NRA Excellent with 95% original nickel overall with a strong etched panel. Screws, cylinder pin, and spur trigger retain 75% of their original fire blue overall. Cylinder pin has excellent knurlings and is completely devoid of any turn or wrench marks. Both profiles of the hammer show 80% of their original bright polish while the rear facing has 95% bright vivid fire blue remaining. Grips retain 95% original varnish with perfect fit to the frame. Mechanics are perfect. Bore is Excellent...which is exceptional for a gun produced in the early black-powder cartridge era. A nice example of one of the earliest dedicated Colt cartridge revolvers from the 1870s in fantastic condition with a desirable etched panel and chambered in a rare and unusual .30 rimfire cartridge.
