This is a nice example of an early 1860's Civil War era Whitney Pocket Percussion Revolver in .31 caliber. 5 shot cylinder with 3 1/2" octagon barrel. Barrel marked E. Whitney <over> New Haven. Very good screws and knurlings. Metal is mostly a bright, probably cleaned at some point, but looks nice with strong edges and good markings. Brass Trigger guard has 60% original silver plating. The fragile Cylinder scene is mostly visible with the exception of a patch of light corrosion where the gun probably layed on one side. Grips are fantastic...Fine+++ showing only minor handling marks with 95% original varnish intact. No chips or cracks. Action works nicely. Good+ bore with strong rifling...and may grade up higher with a little cleaning. A very attractive looking pocket revolver. A very attractive Whitney Pocket Revolver.
